Ventoy 1.0.19

Ventoy is a lightweight tool that provides a quick way to make bootable USB drives from ISO files. Reinstalling your operating system via a bootable USB comes with the advantage that you do not need to spend time formatting the disk. Instead, you simply insert the USB in the dedicated port and reboot your PC.

While there are numerous tools that create bootable USB, most of them rely on the OS's kernel which needs to access the hardware storage media for the source. The idea behind the program is different and entails that the information is saved to runtime memory before booting. Therefore, the OS can determine that the data is booted from a virtual disk, find the source medium needed for the operation and continue to boot without having to create the standard hook, as with the classic booting.

There are already some tools for installing Windows 10 updates manually. Now Belim ( Builtbybel ) is also trying it out with his new Patchlady tool. As a default, he used the Windows 10 manual update from slavanap and will certainly expand it now.

At the moment it doesn't look like a tool from Builtbybel. But all of that is sure to come. You can run the portable tool like this and look for updates that are still open. Or you can deactivate the automatic updates and then have control over them. Just don't forget to check for updates. The last patch day once again showed that over 100 security holes were fixed.

How-to

Before running this app you should turn off automatic updates installation (not a requirement). This could be done via Group Policy Object Editor MMC snap-in or via importing registry files into Windows Registry.

In order to do it via MMC:

• Press Win+R. Type mmc.exe. Hit Enter.
• Navigate menu File -> Add/Remove Snap-in. Select Group Policy Object Editor, click Add to add it to the list on the right. Click Finish, then OK.
• On the left navigate to Local Computer Policy -> Computer Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Windows Update. Select that folder.
• In the list select Configure Automatic Updates policy and set it to Disabled. This setting will disable automatic updates check and installation, but if you navigate to Updates in Windows Setting you'll implicitly launch automatic updates check and installation.
• Change other options in MMC, if you really know what you're doing.

Overall, Postbox is a useful email management tool which integrates multiple Gmail features and can be further improved by adding extensions. However, if you are not an exclusive Gmail user you are sure to find other solutions.
