SoftMaker Office 2018 is the latest version of the office suite from German developer, SoftMaker Software. It comes in two versions; Standard and Professional. The Standard version includes a word processor (TextMaker), spreadsheet (PlanMaker) and presentation (Presentations) programs. You also get an enhnaced version of the Mozilla Thunderbird email client. The Professional suite includes all Standard has to offer plus four Berlitz dictionaries.
The look and feel of some of the components is very similar to the Microsoft Office 365 components. You also have an option of switching to a classic "menu" design. Of course, SoftMaker Office is also fully compatible with docx, xlsx and pptx documents, making it a seamless transition. Skip the annoying import and export: SoftMaker Office 2018 uses the Microsoft formats DOCX, XLSX and PPTX as its default file formats. This lets you edit your documents in Microsoft Office directly and without conversion.
The software does what it’s meant to achieve, thanks to its intuitive way of use, to its huge feature set and outstanding performance. TextMaker is a more than adequate word processor that includes some text effects not available in its free competitors. PlanMaker offers everything you might want from a spreadsheet program and Presentations is a good PowerPoint substitute. There’s just not enough difference to make these stand out from the free alternatives available in LibreOffice or OpenOffice.

• Mac   -  Reduced screen flickering with macOS 10.14.4. We are working on a more complete solution for a future service pack.
• Windows   -  When a service pack installation was interrupted because Windows decided to reboot to install some system updates, an incomplete SoftMaker Office installation remained which could not even be repaired by running the service pack installer again.
• It is now possible to use old (pre-Anniversary Update) toolbar files again. Copy the toolbar files in the Documents\SoftMaker\Settings folder according to the following table.   

         Note that doing so will overwrite the new, more logically arranged toolbars and any customizations you have already made to them. Consider making a backup _____before replacing these files.

•   In some cases, purging a database could cause a program crash.

Freedome is a flexible and easy-to-use VPN from the Helsinki-based security vendor F-Secure.

The service mostly focuses on the privacy fundamentals. It offers a decent set of 27 locations across 20+ countries, with native desktop and mobile apps, giving you access to (some) geo-blocked content and with no bandwidth limits to hold you back.

The only significant bonus feature is tracker-blocking, although F-Secure does its best to persuade you otherwise, highlighting extras like an "interactive visual map" to show you the trackers it's blocked. This looks pretty and can sometimes be useful, but realistically, you wouldn't miss it if it wasn't there.
