XMPlay 3.8.4.4 [Audio Player]
18122505191613695.jpg

is a compact audio player which somehow manages to cram a host of useful features into its tiny, skinnable frame.

There's wide support for audio formats, for instance: OGG, MP3, MP2, MP1, WMA, WAV, AIFF, CDA, MO3, IT, XM, S3M, MTM, MOD and UMX, others via plugins, and PLS, M3U, ASX and WAX playlists.

All this works just as you'd expect. Want to play a folder full of files? Just drag and drop them onto XMPlay. You need to stop playback part way through and go do something else? Just close XMPlay; it'll remember the playlist and carry on where you left off when the program next restarts.

It's just as easy to stream audio from FTP or HTTP servers (including Shoutcast, Icecast and Icecast2). The program can more informally scan FTP and HTTP directories, looking for playable files. And local copies can be made of whatever it's streaming.

If the audio isn't quite up to your standards then you can tweak it with XMPlay's 9-band equaliser and reverb control. The program maintains a library of your favourite tracks for easy access later. There's built-in visualisation, plenty of alternative skins for you to download and try, and if you don't like how some aspect of XMPlay works, then you can probably change it via the extremely in-depth Settings dialog.

History
=======
These are the major (and not so major) changes at each version stage.
There are also many other tweaks and bug fixes made along the way!

3.8.4 - 20/12/2019------------------
* Double skin size option
* ZIP support built-in (ZIP plugin removed)
* Live HLS stream delay is limited to around 30s
* Option to not play Adlib S3M files using built-in player so that a plugin can
* Level reduction/normalisation when downmixing is now optional
* Improved support for channel masks in multi-channel files
* Selection of search results in playlist/library is now optional
* Playlist track selection is retained across sessions
* "-noplay" command-line option to not start playing
* Default LAME encoder options changed to write only ID3v2 tags (not ID3v1)
* Default FLAC encoder options changed to write an intermediate file for proper seektables

3.8.4.4 - 22/02/2020

Here's an update that will allow a track entry to have its filename changed to the same as in an old removed/unreferenced entry:

It will always initially keep the renamed entry's existing info (the old info is lost) and then rescan the file. Not tested much yet, so please report any problems with it.
