McAfee Stinger is a standalone utility used to detect and remove specific viruses. It is not a convenient alternative to full protection against viruses, but LSF a specialized tool to assist administrators and users when dealing with an infected system. Stinger utilizes next generation scan technology, including rootkit scanning, and optimized scanning speed. It detects and removes threats identified under the "List of clues de stroll" in the advanced options menu in the Stinger application.

Is a free utility, technical assistance was not provided and there is no warranty and so it is advised not to use the system on the important tasks. However, utilities are constantly updated (usually several times per week) and is a valuable tool for administrators and advanced users.
